OneFamily announces £120,000 Charity Fund

Posted in: Foundation

OneFamily is launching a new charity fund of £120,000 and is inviting UK charities to apply to receive a share.

The OneFamily Foundation Charity Fund has been created to support campaigns or projects that will help ease the financial strain on families and have a positive social impact.

This could include initiatives that help prevent financial hardship, projects that support families at risk of homelessness, and campaigns for policy change that help alleviate financial pressures.  OneFamily is open to ideas for charity initiatives in this space.

UK registered charities can apply to the fund until 9 August and will need to put forward a proposal for a new project they are looking to develop. OneFamily is looking to fund three projects in total with an average of £40,000 for each.

Following a shortlisting process, OneFamily customers will be invited to choose the three winners later this year.

The OneFamily Foundation 2017 builds on the success of OneFamily’s existing Foundation work through its Personal Grants and Community Awards, which have been running for the last two years, and are estimated to have had a positive impact on the lives of 150,000 people.

As a customer-owned financial services organisation, OneFamily is passionate about helping its customers and enabling them to support causes they care about. This new charity fund is a new way for OneFamily to give something extra back to its customers, their communities and society in general.

Karl Elliott, customer strategy director at OneFamily, said:

“Many people will experience financial hardship at some point in their life and by supporting charity campaigns and projects that tackle financial pressures we are doing more to help families become more financially secure.

“Our products are designed to help families reach financial milestones but we know there are many issues affecting family finances today, and this fund is designed to help combat and alleviate these challenges and help change the lives of more families across the UK.

“As we’re owned by our customers, we want to do more than just provide great products. We want to help them and their communities in other ways, and the OneFamily Foundation Charity Fund enables us to do just that.”

The OneFamily Foundation Charity Fund is now open and closes on Wednesday 9 August.
