The OneFamily Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors is made up of individuals who bring passion, experience and leadership to our organisation.

The Board of Directors set the strategic direction of the group and guide it in the interests of all of our members, their main aims being to:

Provide entrepreneurial leadership with careful, prudent and effective frameworks that assess and control risk

Set the strategic aims for OneFamily to ensure we have the right people and financial resources to achieve our goals

Set our values and standards to meet our obligations to our members.

Executive Directors

Teddy Nyahasha
Chief Executive Officer

Teddy was appointed Chief Executive Officer of OneFamily on 1st January 2020, having previously held the role of Chief Finance Officer since joining the Group in 2016.

During his tenure as a member of OneFamily’s Executive Team, Teddy has been instrumental in critical strategic decisions which led to greater organisational efficiency, strong performance and a reinforcement of member-focused values.

Prior to his work at OneFamily, Teddy gained his extensive range of experience across a number of organisations, each time bringing a mixture of technical efficiency and leadership values to his roles. He has a strong track record of delivering results within start-ups and global multi-billion-pound organisations including household names Royal London and Aviva. In addition, Teddy has experience in policyholder and customer protection from his work at the former industry regulator the Financial Services Authority. Teddy has led diverse teams across different countries and cultures and has been accountable for multi-million-pound budgets, empowering people to deliver business growth.

Teddy is a qualified Chartered Accountant, a Certified Financial Risk Manager and has an MBA from the London Business School. He’s also proud to sit on the Board of Trustees for St Mungo’s, a charity that tackles homelessness and rebuilds lives.


Jim Islam
Chief Finance Officer

Jim joined OneFamily as Chief Finance Officer designate on 1 October 2019 and was appointed to the Board from 1 January 2020.

A qualified actuary, Jim has over 20 years’ leadership experience in the insurance, investment management, savings and pensions sectors.  Before joining OneFamily, Jim held senior finance and general management roles at Lloyd’s of London and Legal & General.  In his Finance Director and Managing Director roles in these organisations covering the UK, France and global businesses, Jim transformed financial, capital and operating performance.

Jim is an independent non-executive director at B&CE, the provider of The People’s Pensions and is a trustee of the RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea.

Non-executive Directors

Steve Colsell

Steve was appointed Chair in June 2022, having joined the Board in July 2016.

A Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, Steve is Chair of the Nominations Sub-Committee and a member of the Remuneration and With Profits Sub-Committees.

Steve’s financial services career has spanned banking, insurance and mortgage lending, notably with Zurich Insurance plc, Lloyds Banking Group plc and Kensington Group Limited. He has also held non-executive directorships at Starling Bank where he was Chair of the Risk Committee, St James’ Place and Esure Insurance Limited.

Steve also holds non-executive director roles with Pepper Money Group and Quilter Financial.


Graham Lindsay
Vice Chair and Senior Independent Director

Graham was appointed to the Board in July 2016, becoming Vice Chair and Senior Independent Director in 2020.

He is Chair of the Member & Customer and Remuneration Sub-Committees, and a member of the Risk, Audit and Nominations Sub-Committees. He is also Chair of Trustees of OneFamily’s closed staff retirement benefits schemes.

Over a 40 year career with Lloyds Banking Group plc, Graham held a number of senior executive roles including responsibility for the Lloyds branch network and Group Director for Corporate Responsibility. He has also held board positions at the Institute of Financial Services and the Chartered Banker Professional Standards Board.

Graham is currently Vice Chairman of the board of trustees for The Brain Tumour Charity and a non-executive director of Provident Financial plc.


Sally Williams
Non-Executive Director

Sally was appointed to the Board from 1 January 2019. She is Chair of the Audit and With Profits Sub-Committees and a member of the Risk, Nominations and Member & Customer Sub-Committees.

Sally was Director of Risk and Governance of Marsh Limited between 2015 and 2018. She joined Marsh from National Australia Bank (NAB) Group, where she was Head of Risk (London branch), and a board member of NAB Europe Ltd. Before joining NAB in 2005, she held senior risk roles with Aviva, following a 15-year career with PwC.

Sally is a non-executive director of Close Brothers Group plc and Lancashire Holdings Limited where she is Chair of the Audit Committee. She is also Chair of the governing body of her local secondary school.

Melanie Hind

Non-Executive Director

Melanie was appointed to the Board on 1 September 2022.  She is a Chartered Accountant whose extensive business experience includes strategy and change leadership, financial risk and capital management, corporate and regulatory reporting, and stakeholder management.

Melanie is Chair of the Risk Sub-Committee and a member of the Audit and Nominations Sub-Committees.

As Head of Assurance Quality at BDO International, Melanie was influential in steering the audit and assurance quality strategy for one of the six largest audit firm networks.   Previously she spent six years as an Executive Director at the Financial Reporting Council (FRC).  Prior to this Melanie held senior leadership roles at Friends Life Group, where she was CRO, and as a Partner specialising in Insurance and Asset Management regulation and audit in PwC’s Financial Services Assurance Practice.

Melanie has held several non-executive roles and is currently an audit non-executive for KPMG UK’s audit practice. She is also a non-executive director on the board of Talbot Underwriting Limited and an independent trustee for the Disasters Emergency Committee.
