The Bromsgrove based special educational needs (SEN) school won a £25,000 Community Award to fund their ‘Playground for Everyone’ project through the OneFamily Foundation.

Chadsgrove School is passionately committed to providing the very best facilities for its 120 pupils, all of whom have special physical needs. They were nominated for a Community Award to refurbish the existing school playground in order to provide a safe and inclusive play area for its pupils, their families and other children in the local community.

The money will be spent on making the playground accessible to children of all abilities. A wheelchair accessible sand play area and mirrored musical panels will be installed as well as a safe play environment, encouraging pupils to play as independently as possible.

It was Carolyn Russell who nominated the school for a Community Award, a OneFamily customer and mother of one of the teachers.

“The wheelchair accessible playground has always been a dream of the school’s but sadly out of financial reach. When I received information about the Community Awards I knew this was the ideal way to raise funds.”

Since winning the award, the school is now in a position to provide its pupils and other SEN children in the area the playground they deserve, and see their dreams of completing the ‘Playground for Everyone’ project a reality.
