Our colleagues’ wellbeing

By Gemma Bellamy 29th May 2025

We’re invested in our people's health and wellbeing, and creating a workplace environment where they can thrive and feel supported.

Wellbeing tools and resources

We provide our colleagues with a range of free tools and resources to help maintain good mental and physical health.

This includes an app providing mental health support and online GP appointments and a cash plan where colleagues can claim back medical costs, up to a yearly limit.

Colleagues also have access to a range of fitness, mindfulness and wellbeing videos and resources to help maintain and build their health and wellbeing.

We also offer free health check-ups to colleagues in all locations.

Wellbeing Champions

In 2024 we created 16 Wellbeing Champion roles to promote and deliver wellbeing initiatives across the business. This included delivering a Menopause Awareness session, as well as building awareness of the benefits, tools and support available to support our people with their health and wellbeing.

Nicky, one of OneFamily’s Wellbeing Champions, said, “Being a Wellbeing Champion is all about hosting events and raising awareness of resources to support the physical and mental health of our colleagues.

“I joined the group to try and make a real difference to the mental health of people in the business and I’ve enjoyed helping to organise a number of events such as wellbeing walks.”

Mental health first aiders

We have colleague mental health first aiders across our sites. They provide support to their colleagues, giving them a safe space to talk and signposting them to further help if needed.

“Becoming a Mental Health First Aider has enabled me to recognise the signs of mental health issues, offer support to those in need, and provide a safe, empathetic space for individuals to talk,” said Saima, a OneFamily Mental Health First Aider.

“It has also given me the skills to direct individuals to professional help and handle mental health crises confidently.

“In a nutshell, it empowers me to play a proactive role in supporting others, reducing stigma around mental health, and helping create a more open and understanding environment for those struggling.”

New wellbeing policies

We introduced two new policies to provide support at key life stages. This supports our continued investment in the wellbeing of all colleagues.

Our fertility policy

Our new fertility policy supports colleagues going through fertility challenges and treatments, giving them the flexibility to attend appointments.

We understand that fertility challenges and treatments can significantly impact an individual’s professional and personal life. So, we’re committed to creating an environment where all colleagues feel supported and valued during this time.

Key features of the policy include:

  • allowing colleagues to have paid time off to attend appointments and to speak to their manager about working flexibly
  • allowing a colleague whose partner is receiving fertility treatment to have paid time off to attend appointments.

Our menopause policy

Our new menopause policy recognises the impact menopause can have, and ensures those affected will receive the understanding and adjustments they need.

The policy outlines our approach to supporting colleagues experiencing menopause, helping to ensure they receive the understanding and adjustments they need.

Key features of the policy:

  • Inclusive of any colleague who is experiencing perimenopause or menopause.
  • Understanding the symptoms of menopause, and what to do if a colleague is having any of the symptoms.
  • The support the business will give to an individual going through menopause.
  • Referring to external sources of help, if appropriate.
