Jim Islam discusses our child trust fund access campaign with SENDA
In June 2025 OneFamily CEO, Jim Islam, recorded a podcast about our child trust fund access campaign with SENDA, the UK Alliance of Special Educational Needs and Disability Advisers.
Continuing to raise awareness for our child trust fund access campaign
We've been campaigning since 2020 for teens with limited mental capacity to be able to access the money in their child trust funds more easily.
In these cases, the child’s family are currently advised to go through the Court of Protection to ask for the money to be released.
This is often a stressful, lengthy and costly process, with some people unfairly missing out on money that’s legally theirs.
"We know there's a need to protect vulnerable individuals, but when it comes to child trust funds and the amounts involved, we need a fair and common sense approach."
Jim Islam, OneFamily CEO
Adopting a common sense approach
Speaking with hosts, Rhiannon Gogh and Ali Fanshawe, on Special Needs Planning: The Podcast, created by SENDA, Jim discussed the need to adopt a common sense approach to make the system more accessible.
They went on to talk about how being the voice of its customers is in OneFamily’s DNA, building financial and social resilience, and the importance of listening, caring, and treating all customers with dignity.
