Do I need Over 50s Life Cover?
As our Over 50s Life Cover comes with Funeral Funding as standard, it could help your family pay for your funeral even before they receive any inheritance you’ve left for them.
So, if you have any concerns about how your funeral will be paid for, Over 50s Life Cover could help.
Low monthly premiums starting from just £10 a month
Available to all 50 – 80 year old UK residents
Includes terminal illness cover, meaning we’ll pay out if you’re given less than 12 months to live
Comes with Funeral Funding – we’ll pay the proceeds to a funeral director to help cover the cost of your funeral
Gave me the best price for my policy. OneFamily were very helpful and explained everything so that I understood everything about my life insurance.

How it works
Your family will get a lump sum if you die while the policy is active but, as we include Funeral Funding as standard, the payout will go direct to a funeral director who will add a contribution of up to £300, depending on the type of funeral selected*.
If there’s any money left after your funeral is paid for, this will be inherited as part of your estate.

What you need to know about Over 50s Life Cover
What is Funeral Funding?
- Funeral Funding is included as standard in our policies, unless you opt out, and is provided by Co-op Funeralcare.
- With Funeral Funding, the policy payout will be sent directly to Co-op, who will add a contribution of up to £300, depending on the type of funeral selected*.
- Funeral Funding is designed to give your loved ones less to worry about at a difficult time. It's worth being aware that it's not the same as a Funeral Plan, so may not cover the full cost of your funeral.
You can also download our Funeral Funding flyer for more information.
The person I spoke to at OneFamily was excellent. They explained that it would be good to pay extra because the policy I have would not pay for my funeral at the moment, but if I took out another policy it would go to cover a bit more.

Things to be aware of before taking out your policy
- You won't have to pay for your cover once you reach age 90 but your cover will continue for life. If you stop paying premiums before age 90, the cover will cease and you won't be entitled to claim any money back.
- The cash lump sum on death normally counts as part of your estate and so may be subject to inheritance tax.
- It is also important to note that you could pay out more money in premiums than the policy pays out. Our Over 50s Life Cover is not a savings plan and has no cash-in value. Due to inflation, any amount paid out may not buy as much in the future as it would now.
- Please read our Terms and Conditions and Policy Summary and Our Insurance Services leaflet for more details.
