£30,000 education boost for young people from OneFamily

16th December 2025

Brighton-based financial services company, OneFamily, has awarded £30,000 in funding to 120 young people aged 11–19, giving them financial support to invest in a better future.

The Young Person’s Education Grant, available to OneFamily customers across the UK, offers up to £250 per person to help cover essential education costs, such as laptops, travel, or course equipment, providing them with a boost to reach their full potential.

Finances can be a significant barrier to further education and training. Research by the Child Poverty Action Group estimates the cost of sending a child to secondary school is nearly £2,300 a year*. For many families already juggling tight budgets, finding extra money for essentials and equipment can be difficult.

Through the Young Person’s Education Grant, OneFamily helps remove these obstacles by funding items that enable them to succeed, covering expenses that might otherwise be out of reach.

Jim Islam, CEO of OneFamily, said: “We know how challenging it can be for families to manage the extra costs that come with education. Our Inspiring Better Futures vision is about breaking down those barriers and creating opportunities for the next generation.

“By providing these grants, we’re helping level the playing field by ensuring students have the essentials they need to keep learning. It’s about reducing some of those financial pressures and helping them build confidence in their future as they take those important next steps.”

How our Young Person’s Education Grants work

  • Applications are open to OneFamily customers who are based in the UK. Customers can apply on behalf of a recipient who is aged 11-19 years old at the time the application is made.
  • The grant must be used towards costs associated with further education, apprenticeships or other work/training options, on behalf of a recipient who is aged 11-19 years old.
  • There are two rounds of Young Person’s Education Grants per year.
  • In each round, applications open one month before the draw takes place.
