Access to financial education is a cause close to our heart.
The impact of giving young people with the skills and confidence to manage their money in later life cannot be underestimated.
Giving young people the skills and confidence to manage their money can have a huge impact on their lives. It can help them avoid debt, make their money go further and support them to build savings habits that open-up more opportunities.
Introducing Money Ready
Our national charity partner, Money Ready, takes financial education seriously.
Money Ready is a charity dedicated to creating a “financially fluent” population, where people can confidently understand and manage their finances. From pocket money to pensions, they equip people aged 4 to 40 with the skills and knowledge to make informed choices and take control of their money.
In the 2024-25 academic year, Money Ready supported almost 60,000 learners. They delivered 2,357 programmes and spent an impressive 38,405 hours teaching.
One of its flagship initiatives, Change the Game, brings high-quality financial education to primary school children in disadvantaged areas. Change the Game introduces money concepts at crucial stages in children’s development, and is building evidence of the positive impact early financial education can have on a person’s future.
How we've been supporting Money Ready lately
- We hosted a Lunch and Learn session to give colleagues a hands-on look at the activities delivered in Money Ready programmes. They explored how children learn to distinguish needs from wants and understand the real cost of ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ schemes. The session helped prepare colleagues for upcoming volunteering workshops, where they’ll run these games and teach children about financial education.
- Our donation supported their Change the Game programme, helping Money Ready show the real, long‑term difference early financial education can make. This work will contribute to influencing public policy and shaping a model that could be rolled out more widely in primary schools.
- A group of OneFamily employees joined Money Ready's Year 2 workshop at St Mary's primary school, helping the children to budget and plan their spending to create a super hero and win the ‘Don’t Run Out of Money Game'
“We are squandering the potential of millions of children year after year because we don’t equip them with the everyday life skills around money they need in adulthood.
In doing so, we perpetuate a pernicious cycle of disadvantage. That cycle needs to be broken. Now.
The impact that organisations like OneFamily have on our programme, whether through funding our work or volunteering at our workshops in schools, is huge.
We are beginning to see statistically significant positive results from the largest randomised control study ever carried out on the impact of primary school financial education.
Indeed, two of our 92 member schools have had Ofsted inspections and reports in the last six months that have recognised the positive contribution that the programme is making.”

We form charity partnerships to make a meaningful contribution to causes aligned with our vision and values. Alongside funding, we’re committed to getting involved in other ways too - whether that’s volunteering our time, opening our office doors, sharing expertise, or fundraising.
Supporting Money Ready is one way we’re helping to change the game for young people, giving them the language of money today, so they can build stronger, more secure futures tomorrow.
