Rachael Hill, Ashton-Under-Lyne

Posted in: Foundation

Rachael, from Ashton-Under-Lyne, has dedicated her life to helping the children in her community. Rachael has been childminding for 19 years and is rated Outstanding by Ofsted. Passionate about supporting their development, Rachael applied for a Personal Grant to further her training by completing the Forest School Leader course, giving her the skills she needs to teach the children she looks after about the great outdoors.

The course will allow Rachael to share her passion for the natural environment, learning how to lead a number of activities including environmental art, team games and den making – something she wouldn’t previously have had the confidence or knowledge to do. It will also help her to support the children to develop self-esteem, confidence and social skills by exploring the world around them.

"I’m extremely grateful to have been awarded a Personal Grant. I’m not eligible for government funding so couldn’t have done this course without this help from OneFamily."

Rachael said: “The course will mean I can pass on new skills and get the children involved in things they wouldn’t have previously been able to experience, including understanding different types of wildlife and fire building – it will make a real difference to my life and theirs. I’m extremely grateful to have been awarded a Personal Grant. I’m not eligible for government funding so couldn’t have done this course without this help from the Foundation.”
