Barbara Murray

Posted in: Foundation

Barbara from Stirling was awarded a Personal Grant to give her a well-deserved break from caring for her son and former partner, who both suffer mental health issues. Barbara selflessly took on caring for her ex-partner, but still close friend, after he suffered several strokes in 1992. Barbara also cares for her son, who was diagnosed with Schizophrenia following the death of Barbara’s husband.

The £500 grant will allow Barbara to take a much-needed short break to Bristol to be reunited with her family and spend quality time with them – something she has been unable to do for a number of years due to her caring duties. Barbara will also be able to meet her great grandson for the very first time, whilst being reassured that her son and former partner are receiving the care that they require.

"I can’t thank everyone at Engage enough for giving me this opportunity to have a break knowing that the boys will be taken good care of whilst I’m gone."

I’m really excited to see my daughter and granddaughter and especially the new addition to the family – my great grandson Jake. I can’t thank everyone at Engage enough for giving me this opportunity to have a break knowing that the boys will be taken good care of whilst I’m gone.”
