Staffordshire-based football club, Wyrley Juniors, will be investing in new changing facilities after they won a £5,000 Community Award through the OneFamily Foundation.

The club will be using the money to improve facilities at their current training grounds. It will be split between renovating the changing room facilities, which currently have no electricity, hot water or security, and painting the outside of the containers which had previously been vandalised.

The renovations will ensure that all seven Wyrley Juniors teams, and the wider community, have safe changing rooms and bathrooms that function in all weather conditions. New state of the art facilities will benefit the 120 footballers who use Harrisons Football Ground in Great Wyrley which will replace the repurposed shipping containers.

It was thanks to one of the ladies’ team players and OneFamily customer, Jo Thomas, who nominated the club for a Community Award.

“Winning the funding is great news for everyone involved with the team and we’re planning on making the facilities fully accessible for everyone and benefit the players for years to come.”

The club is hoping to attract more people of all ages and abilities, enabling them to fulfil the growing demand for people who would like to play football in the local area.
