Hasmonean Primary School celebrate winning a Community Award from the OneFamily Foundation

North London based Hasmonean Primary School won a £25,000 Community Award to build a new fitness trail that will bring the pupils together at playtime and transform the inner-city school’s playground.

The school, which has 250 infant and junior pupils from the local Jewish community, will be spending the award on a new bespoke fitness trail playground that consists of tyre swings, balance beams, ramps and climbing nets.

“It will help to improve pupils’ fitness, provide stimulation and aid inclusion, as well as being fantastic fun! We’re so grateful to OneFamily for the award, it will really make a huge difference.”

Dr Alan Shaw, Head teacher

Hasmonean was nominated for a Community Award by Britt Jacobs, a OneFamily customer and school governor, whose children are both pupils at the school. Fellow governor and parent at the school, Dan Sacker, couldn’t believe their luck when they secured the highest number of votes within their category.

“ It’s been fantastic to see the whole community come together to support the school’s award entry. It’s no exaggeration to say that this new equipment will completely revolutionise playtime.”

Once the new playground has been installed, it will give the school a better chance of catering to its special need students, who can use the space to build strength and coordination, while improving all the pupils’ fitness and encouraging them to play outside.
