The Dorset based charity, Diverse Abilities, are overjoyed at being awarded the £5,000 funding from the OneFamily Foundation Community Award schemes! The funding will go towards transforming the home into a more welcoming and comfortable environment.

Winning the award enables the charity to purchase essential item, including two new sofas, furnishings for the living areas and children’s bedrooms, plus a new oven and cooking utensils where the children are encouraged to develop their cookery skills

Diverse Abilities was nominated as a project for the Health, Disability and Social Care category by OneFamily Customer, Helen Mortimer. Helen has worked at the charity for over 5 years and a half years was thrilled to find out they had one the much needed cash boost.

“The majority of the donations we receive go towards day-to-day running costs, so it’s not always easy to find the funds for essential maintenance. However, thanks to this award from OneFamily, we are finally able to get the improvements underway.”

The charity was founded in Poole, Dorset, in 1995 and provides care for over 50 local children with severe physical and learning disabilities. Not only does it help local children, it also created respite for their families as well.

We hope the funding makes a huge difference to Diverse Abilities to the children and families who regularly visit the home.
