Chingford School of Tennis won a £5,000 Community Award to enhance the appearance and surface of its courts.

The East London tennis club, which has around 300 members, welcomes people of all ages, from pre-schoolers to retirees. The club offers tennis coaching to its members but also welcomes non-members who hire the courts on a one off basis, as well as hosting competitive league matches.

The club was nominated for a Community Award by OneFamily customer and club supporter, James Sennett. The money will be used to revamp and paint the courts, making them safer for more players to make use of.

“At the moment the courts can also become very slippery when it’s damp due to moss, and these improvements will mean that we can play in all weathers throughout the year.”

Hilary McDowell, Head Coach

Once the courts have been repainted and repaired it will make the site look brighter and more welcoming, hopefully attracting more members of the community to join the club.
