Chewton Mendip C of E Primary School won a £5,000 Community Award to create a tyre park for its pupils and local community to benefit from.

Based in a small village in Somerset, with no public play areas for children in the local area, the primary school currently offers its own facilities for the community to make use of.

The school is hoping to use the funding from the OneFamily Foundation to create a tyre park that will extend the inclusive resource, benefiting not just the pupils at the school, but giving all children in the surrounding areas the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor space.

Chewton Mendip Primary School was nominated for a Community Award by Ben Kane, a OneFamily customer whose children currently attend the school.

“The playground is open to the whole community and the funding means that lots more children will be able to enjoy that park. We’re so grateful to everyone in the local community that made this possible.”

Pupils have worked hard to raise money towards the replacement of worn out play equipment, however the resources have always been limited. Now the school are in a position to upgrade the play area and this will considerably enrich the children’s lives, offering increased exercise opportunities and enhance the development of physical skills and fun!
