Bristol Youth Darts Club won a £25,000 Community Award in the ‘Youth & Affiliated Organisations’ category.

The club was specifically set up for under-21 male and female dart players who are looking for a future within the darts industry, and allows them to develop their sporting skills by playing competitively against other teams across the country.

Winning the Community Award means the club can purchase a portable stage that can be easily stored at the venue they hire for training. New shirts and equipment, including a vehicle big enough to transport the team, parents and supporters to events and competitions will also be bought using the money from the Foundation.

Bristol Youth Darts Club was nominated for a Community Award by OneFamily customer, and club secretary, Rachel Jarman.

“We still can’t believe that we’ve won, it’s an incredible feeling. The club provides a great opportunity for young people to make new friends, learn about team work and enjoy being part of a community so it’s great to be able to improve our facilities.”

Darts provides an outlet for youngsters to socialise in a friendly environment and is also a really good way of improving numerical skills. Currently, the club has members who compete for England so they are hoping more children will be able to fulfil their dreams of playing for their country!
