AFC Mansfield wins £5,000 to invest in new equipment for U9 and U13 teams

AFC Mansfield won a £5,000 Community Award from the OneFamily Foundation.

The football club in Nottinghamshire won funding to set up an academy for its younger players but also to support the players who play for the older teams.

The Community Award will enable the club to buy kit for all its players, including a club jacket and tracksuit, and new equipment for all age groups to benefit from. The additional funds mean the club’s coaches can enhance their training qualifications by completing the level 1 standard.

OneFamily customer and mum to one of the budding football players, Heather Ward, nominated AFC Mansfield for the Community Award.

“We’re so grateful to Heather nominating us, as the funding is going to make a huge difference to all the children at the club. We’ll be investing in new equipment so more children in the local community can join in!”

Lee Walker, manager at AFC Mansfield

Winning the Community Award has given the club a much needed cash boost since they used to rely solely on fundraising activities. The managers give up their free time to train the children in the week and also at matches on the weekend so there’s been limited resources until now.

It’s fantastic to know more children in the area will have the opportunity to become more involved in a team sport that keeps them healthy and fit.
