Aiming to refurbish and upgrade the facilities at their club HQ, the Angus based 2nd Kirriemuir Scout Group was awarded funding of £5,000 after successfully taking part in the OneFamily Foundation Community Awards.

The scout group have planned to use the money from the Community Award to modernise the space they use for their weekly sessions. Over 120 children will benefit from modernising the premises and it will also enable the group to give more children the opportunity to join the Kirrie scout group.

As well as improving the facilities, the money received from the Community Award will be spent on replacing the old lighting with low energy LED bulbs, which in turn will reduce the carbon emissions and reduce the energy bills.

The project was nominated by Karen-Ruth Phillips, former scout group chairman and OneFamily customer.

“We’re very grateful to have been awarded the funding as it will enable us to create a safer and more modern space that all the children can enjoy.”

The scouts group is an essential part of the local community so the additional funds will help the group continue to provide activities for young people for many years to come.
