2nd Cuddington Scout Group secured £25,000 to make significant adaptations to its headquarters in Surrey.

The group based in Worcester Park has more than 170 members aged between the ages of 6 and 25 years old and offers young people varied programmes of indoor and outdoor training activities.

As an active group in both the local and scouting community, it applied for funding to make the building more accessible and accommodating for its members with disabilities. The scout group was nominated for a Community Award by Rajesh Saini, a OneFamily customer, whose son Arun has been a member for seven years.

“The Scouts get so much out of being part of an organisation, so it’s fantastic that the headquarters will now be accessible to everyone in the community. I hope this means more young people will be able to enjoy the benefits of being a member!”

The money will be used to install wheelchair ramps so visitors can get in and out of the building with ease and the group will be turning its old store cupboard into a disabled toilet and shower room.

We hope this award will make a real difference to people with disabilities and enable the whole community to enjoy the Scouting activities available.
