Continuing support for Steve Prescott Foundation

Posted in: Community

Engage Mutual has announced its continued support of the Steve Prescott Foundation as main sponsor for 2011.

The Foundation is headed up by ex St Helens, Hull, Wakefield, Ireland and GB Lions Tourist player, Steve Prescott MBE, who is battling cancer.  Through a series of incredible challenges, more than £200,000 has so far been raised for its two nominated charities: Try Assist, previously known as the RFL Benevolent Fund, and the Christie Cancer Hospital in Manchester.

Steve Prescott commented:

“As Engage Super League title sponsor, Engage Mutual has shown its commitment to the game, and to supporting key rugby league charities, so it’s great to have them on board for a second year as The Foundation’s main sponsor.

“Last year they put together a team to complete the national Three Peaks; and Sid the Savings Pig mascot ran a mile on the treadmill in the Grand Final Fanzone as part of Keep On Running – Steve Prescott’s Engage Mutual Challenge.  Both initiatives raised valuable funds for The Foundation.”

Other benefits of the sponsorship include Engage Mutual’s Man of the Match charity scheme in association with Sky Sports, which provides a national platform to raise awareness of the Steve Prescott Foundation.  For every Engage Super League game televised live, the scheme also makes a donation of £100 to The Foundation and £100 to a charity of the player’s choice.

Engage Mutual’s sponsorship executive, James Ogden commented:

“You can’t fail to be inspired by Steve.  He sets such a great example as a rugby player and as a man, he motivates others to take action and help make a difference.”
