Golden Charter Funeral Funding Option

The Funeral Funding option, provided by Golden Charter is an optional addition to your Over 50s life cover. This could make paying for your funeral easier, for your loved ones at a difficult time.

In the event of your death it allows you to arrange a payment, direct from your policy proceeds, towards your funeral expenses.

Please remember this is not a funeral plan and will not necessarily meet the full cost of a funeral.

£300 contribution* to your funeral costs

A £300 contribution* will also be made towards your funeral costs by the Funeral Funding option provider. This will go towards the cost of your funeral provided it is arranged through the Funeral Funding option provider.

Adding the Funeral Funding Option is simple

All you have to do is let us know you would like to add the Funeral Funding option to your plan. This simply means, in the event of your death and as long as the plan has been in place for two years, the proceeds of your cover will be paid towards your funeral costs, directly to the chosen Funeral Director, at the time of settling the bill. Please remember this is not a Funeral plan and may not meet the cost of your funeral.

If your payout is different to the actual cost

If the sum assured is more than the cost of your funeral, your nominated nominee/s or administrator of your estate will need to claim the excess from OneFamily. However, if your funeral costs total more than your cover, your representative will be responsible for settling the balance with the funeral director at the time of arranging the funeral.

Change your mind at any time

Our Funeral Funding option is not irreversible. If you want to you can change your mind and remove the 'Funeral Funding option' from your plan. However, if you wish to add this back on to a policy at a later date, Golden Charter will allow you to do so. You can only have the Funeral Funding Option on one policy.

Important things to remember

You can only apply a Funeral Funding option to one policy at any one time. If you have multiple OneFamily Over 50s Life Cover plans please select carefully the one you want the Funeral Funding option to be applied to. 
 
A Funeral Funding option will take precedence over any nominations made against a policy. If you have removed the option, but at a later date change your mind and want to add it back on, you can do so. But you can only have the Funeral Funding option on one policy.
 
If you die within the first 2 years of taking out your policy, the Funeral Funding option will not apply and the pay out will be made under the conditions of your plan. However, the £300 Contribution* towards the cost of your funeral will still be available if it is carried out by the Funeral Funding option provider.

If you make a serious illness claim, the benefit payable to the Funeral Funding option provider will reduce. In the event of a terminal illness claim then the money is paid to you and the policy closed, however the £300 Contribution* will still be offered by Golden Charter if the funeral is arranged through them.
